The Digestive System of the Convoluted Barrel Sponge (Aplysina lacunosa)
The diet of the Convoluted Barrel Sponge mainly consist of any particles, debris, or microscopic life forms and then they they filter through their digestive system. This is a type of Free Floating Sponge. The first step to a sponges digestive system is that the food that they are digesting goes through their pours. When the food gets to the pours of the Sponge the individual cells eat the food and any parts of what they were eating that was not digested just goes out of their barrel.
