The Digestive System of the Asbestopluma Monticola
This sponge is called a carnivorous sponge because instead of digesting/eating small particles such as algae, the eat small fish and shrimp. You might ask how they manage to capture a fish like that and the answer to that is the little hair on the sponge. Those little hairs are very sharp and can trap bigger things. They use the tiny hair like spikes on their arms like hooks to catch their prey. Once the small fish is captured sponge cells start to engulf the prey and slowly digest it. After they digest it a shell of what they ate remains. The beginning of the video bellow should help you understand this a little bit better.
